What a glorious night for trick or treating- absolutely perfect weather here in MN-- about 55 degrees, no wind.

We had a great time- the girls were sprinting from house to house overcome with excitement. Kathleen was Ariel with a bright red wig and Jane was Batgirl with a bat-mask and cape.

We finished the evening with a viewing of "The Great Pumpkin". Pre-PC Peanuts specials are the best.

Linus says: "There are three things I don't discuss with people; politics, religion and The Great Pumpkin".

Obviously I don't have that problem. :)

Happy Halloween!

If You Don't Fawn Over Me- You Can Drive

I thought Rush was joking today about this- he wasn't.

Obama has kicked three major U.S. Newspapers off his campaign plane for endorsing McCain in order to accomodate reporters from black magazines Ebony and Jet. What if Hillary had the endorsement and kicked off the New York Times to put reporters for women's magazines Vogue and Marie Claire on board?

This is the type of Commander in Chief he'd be- only wanting to be surrounded by admirers.

Obnoxious Liberal Celebrities

This video is really stupid. Liberal Hollywood actors and visibile Obama supporters reminding you to vote because stupid people don't know that voting is important, they need to be reminded. Maybe somebody out there who loved N'Sync or Pretty Woman says- "boy, I better vote because Justin and Julia say I should".

I caught part of this on Fox, watched the whole thing on YouTube-- don't ask me why.

Fun trivia question for you: Name the celebs in this video who actually have a college degree? Hint: there's only three out of the twenty or so featured.

Bring back the contract system in Hollywood where these actors just made movies and didn't talk. I'm SO sick of it.

Let Him Talk....

Caught this interview of Obama on NBC Nightly News tonight- it's long and boring, but the more this guy talks, the better.

He talks about the failing U.S. auto industry but makes no acknowledgement of the FACT that his Big Labor Union buddies that have funded his campaign are the main problem-- no he talks about government paying for healthcare and pension costs for Union workers and then mentions "gas guzzling SUV's" as another part of the problem. American companies represent innovation- we have one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world.

More importantly he lets his liberal bias slip and talks about using a non-existent Constitutional right to privacy as a rationale for legalizing gay marriage (wait a minute - I thought this guy was against gay marriage?) LIAR

He also states plainly that he will not choose Supreme Court Justices who say:
"they only believe in the strict letter of the Constitution".

Oooh, that pesky Constitution, always getting in our way!

My Redistribution Plan

If the government is truly interested in moving people out of poverty- I have a suggestion to make:

What if I doled out the $12,000 tax raise I'm going to pay under Obama's plan and had to file who I gave the money to on my federal tax return?

I believe in helping those in need- I'd sign up four families for a free $3,000 check at the end of the year- in return they'd sign a contract with me.

Here are the terms;

1. you will submit monthly budgets to me and I will review them for cost-overruns and cost savings
2. you will submit a 1, 5, 10 and 20 year career plan- I will tell you if it's workable- if it's not, I'll come up with one for you
3. you will have either a cell phone or land line, whichever is the least expensive
4. you will not have cable
5. you will not own any of the following items (if you do, you'll immediately sell them) an iPod, a flat screen television, video games, a computer or any designer clothing
6. you will work at least 60 hours a week
7. any children 12 or over will have a job to contribute to the household income
8. you will sign up for charity for all birthday and Christmas presents for kids and adults will have no presents
9. you will not go out to eat for the duration of the year- nor will you see a movie or get your nails or hair done (you can do it at home)
10. you will learn how to most effectively clip coupons to maximize your household savings and will only shop at approved stores
11. you will live on a strict cash allowance and will not have one credit card or debit card in your wallet
12. if you live anywhere near a bus line- you will sell your car immediately
13. you will ensure that your children are performing well at school and work with their teachers in any possible way to make them successful- if they need tutoring- we will find the resources to do it

In return- if you follow the plan- you will get $3,000 cash at the end of the year to be invested in a savings account- or to assist in any debt reduction needs.

How does that sound? I'm pretty good at many of the things above- because they're the same things that I've done and my family's done to improve our finances.

And how much you wanna bet that graduates of my give-away program would be out of poverty in 2 years verses people under Obama's plan? That's not their objective though- the objective is government power and control. And what would be the incentive anyway for somebody to sign up for my plan anyway when you can do none-of-the-above and still get a $2,500 check form the government?

Obama's Lies- His Tax Plan

Obama has lied the entire time about his tax plan only affecting families making over $250,000 a year- last night he said that only working families making under $200,000 would see a tax break.

Did you see the ads for the Obama Tax Cut Calculator last night?

Check it out:

I plugged in our numbers and it read:

You will probably not get a tax cut under the Obama-Biden plan.

Uh- gee- ya think?

How about telling me how much I'm going to be paying??? I've done some math- based on our income and re-setting numbers back to the top rate of 39.6% under Clinton (remember though under Clinton the top bracket was for income over approximately $260,000- using the Consumer Price Index to calculate inflation- the 2008 level should be around $320,000- not Obama's-- but note Obama is dropping it to $250,000+ for married couples or is it $200,000?) Our federal income tax liability will go up by AT LEAST $12,000 (assuming the top bracket is moved down to $250,000)- if they remove the cap on Social Security- which Obama surely will- our taxes will go up another $18,000-- . This all assumes they don't take away existing mortgage interest deductions and existing tax credits for "the rich"- this assumes they don't raise Medicare taxes on the rich. We're looking at a $30,000 tax hike per year for my family under Obama- that's our kids' education money.

And we're in the same tax bracket as Obama's pal Oprah Winfrey-- we own one home- not seven- Oprah's Santa Barbara home cost $50 Million. So- why isn't there a windfall profit tax on Hollywood? If you really want to spread the wealth- why stop at $250,000 for the top bracket- I mean if you make $10,000,000 a year like many movie stars do- shouldn't you pay 90% of your income to the federal government- you'd still have $1,000,000 to spend- you're still "doing pretty well" as Obama says. What a fake and a phony.

Back to the calculator- I plugged in scenarios for friends and family members at different points in their lives- most of them get back about $1,800 under Obama's plan. Most are in the $60,000-$100,000 range- middle class right?

Then I plugged in some other scenarios:

Family with $20,000 a year income with 3 kids living in an $80,000 home (that they can't afford)- guess what the tax check is? (KEEP IN MIND THEY'RE PAYING NO FEDERAL INCOME TAXES)-- $2,106-- guess what happens when you put in "single" instead of married with kids in child care- they get $2,506!!!! They will get a CHECK mailed to them in the amount of $2,500....for contributing nada into the system.

A single girl making $75,000 a year with no kids- and renting gets only $500 back. She's probably paid at least $10,000 in- and only gets $500 back. She's subsidizing the other single woman-- WHY? One chooses to wait to have a family, to rent when she can't afford to buy and is penalized for doing so.

I want to know what planet you need to live on for any of this to be considered "fair"? We live in America- a country based on opportunity and freedom- we fought a revolutionary war based on unfair taxation without representation. How are we represented in Washington when Congressmen conveniently make under the $200,000 threshold?? They make $169,000 a year.

It's class warfare at it's worst.

Here's another calculator to check out your taxes under McCain and Obama:

The McCain campaign missed an opportunity months ago to do their own tax calculator which would spit out 1. what you're now paying under Bush and 2. what you'd be "blessed with" under the Obama plan. Most people have no idea what they're paying (or not paying in federal income taxes)-- it's time to become educated.

A Break

I spent a marvelous 36 hours at the St. Paul Hotel for our 13th anniversary- hence my lack of blogging. Todd and I are enjoying our last days of trickle-down economic spending before we're potentially supporting another 5-7 non-taxpaying citizens on Obama's tax plan.

We saw MN GOP Chairman Ron Carey having a bite with Rep Michele Bachmann before her MPR radio debate at the hotel cafe this I've said before, I can never seem to escape politics.

I caught part of the Obama commercial last night. Ridiculous. I was laughing out loud at Biden and Claire McCaskill touting all of Obama's experience. He has none. The man voted present 134 times in IL and has never authored a piece of legislation. He's been running for President for nearly 2 years- he's contributed nothing but rhetoric. He's an arrogant blow-hard.

I'll blog more later.

More Liberal Antics

My mom called me yesterday and was telling me about Mr. Gust- our longtime neighbor across the street who moved about a mile away years back. He was on the news for having his McCain signs stolen and shredded and having a doll with blood and feces dumped into his yard.

The Gusts are great people- their daughter babysat me and I was good buddies with their son. Mr. Gust always "went big". He used to build enormous snow sculptures in their yard every year- worthy of Winter Carnival awards. One year he built a life size man, boy, dog and an entire car that you could sit in.

This year when I drive back to my red-city of Lakeville, I have a smile when I turn up the main road to my parent's house. There are the huge McCain signs on the Gust's corner lot. No covenants in Lakeville :)

Here's the story on KARE 11:

There's an Obama supporter who catches his sign thief on tape- although I might offer that there's a slight difference between stealing signs (which is terrible) and destruction of property.

I posted a small McCain sign and a small Paulsen sign in the yard of a neighbor on a Friday afternoon. By Saturday morning, somebody had driven into his lawn to knock the signs down...tire tracks and all. That is nuts!

The other day while door-knocking in an adjacent neighborhood I was actually heckled by two-teenage boys and their mother from their screen door (they had a Franken sign in their yard). They were yelling across the cul-de-sac "SHE'S A LIBERAL!" when I went to knock on their neighbor's door. They were yelling other things too that I couldn't make out- I was baffled, I couldn't believe it. Of course they were too damn chicken to stand there when I walked back down the street- they just wanted to be obnoxious. Teenagers-- bad breeding I guess. But the mom? Inexcusable and classless.

I continue to pose this question- why are liberals SO MAD? They're winning.

Guilt Bomb

When I was about six-years-old, my cousins were visiting town and we went to Mass together. My little brother, my two cousins and I were being disruptive. This didn't happen often because one look from my Dad- could usually shut us up. We were giggling and hitting each other, carrying on....At the end of Mass, during the processional, Father Zimmer (who baptised me)came up to our pew, knelt and did a sign of the cross at us. We were shaking in our boots and my mother was mortified. I will never forget that as long as I live, and to this day when I think about giggling in Mass- I think about that amazing shame-move. Shame is one of the most underrated emotions these days.

Joe Biden got a little taste of shame himself this week in a letter to the editor written by his Bishop in Wilimington.

This Sunday, all the parishes in the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington will pray the Litany of St. Thomas More, martyr and patron saint of statesmen, politicians and lawyers. We will ask St. Thomas More to intercede so all statesmen and politicians may be courageous and effective in their defense and promotion of the sanctity of human life. We hope Sen. Biden will carefully listen to the Church’s 2,000 years of testimony on abortion and that he will join in the defense and promotion of the sanctity of life.

A Litany prayed for you by all the parishes in a Diocese? Ouch!

Star Trib the 3rd

The Strib didn't endorse anybody for the 3rd Congressional District Race between Erik Paulsen, Ashwin Madia and David Dillion. For the Strib, it's pretty remarkable that they didn't choose to endorse the DFL candidate- Madia. My take- they just didn't like him enough. He's not a likable guy.

The Strib "sitting out" is a good thing for GOP Candidate Erik Paulsen.

Uh, Uh, Uh, Uh- The Warren Court wasn't Radical Enough for Obama

Oh, Mr. Obama. You are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Smart.

I heard four D-list celebrities on a morning talk-show today talk about Sarah Palin and how they think she's an idiot followed up with the observation that Saturday Night Live will have nothing to make fun of if Obama gets in because he's so intelligent.

Are you kidding? This guy is a treasure trove of humor. Remember Dana Carvey and the parodies of of the McLaughlin Group on SNL?

Here's the You Tube video every one's watching today. To me, Mr. Obama clearly infers that he's given very deep thought into how best spread the wealth. He sees the United States Constitution as faulty when it comes to understanding how wealth should be redistributed.

The man is a dullard- that is humorous to me. But the man is also dismissive of the most important document to advance human freedom-- our Constitution-- and that is entirely frightening to me. Hey genius- did you ever stop to think that our Founders crafted the Constitution to protect us from potential tyrants like you?

The other story with this video? The fact that it was discovered by one individual- not the mainstream media who cares more about a Nieman Marcus shopping trip than a potential Commander in Chief's views on our courts and our economy. Read this National Review article for the entire story.

Come On Get Happy!

Well maybe we haven't been all that happy in the last few weeks- but YES we Republicans are happier than Democrats- and we have been for 40 years.

A new Pew Research Poll explains why.

Of course they say we have more money-- hmm, I might debate that fact just a wee bit when Obama has $620 Million to McCain's $340 Million. I'd like to see the stats on mean and median income.

The article also notes:

"They have more friends. They are more religious. They are healthier. They are more likely to be married. They like their communities better. They like their jobs more. They are more satisfied with their family life. They like the weather better."

I think it's more than that- I think our principle value of individual responsibility means that we put happiness in our own hands. We know that nobody is going to take care of us- that we must do it for ourselves and nothing brings greater satisfaction than hard work to attain a goal.

This is why WE KNOW redistribution of wealth doesn't work and welfare is really just institutionalized racism. We know that the government trying to jip people of the rewards that work brings leads to more societal ills- not less.

We also know that companionship and marriage and children bring great happiness (headaches sometimes too)- but overall life is all about your family and your friends. As you age, you want someone to travel the road with you, somebody who knows your soul and who loves you deeply enough to stay with you in sickness and in health. This is why we oppose legislation that penalizes familes or works to destroy the familial bond.

But also- I can say with certain knowledge- that we Republicans like a good party! I don't know too many liberals who can really kick back and enjoy a good cocktail without pontificating (well except my grandma- the woman drinks a Manhattan every night). Most of the liberal people I know are just too serious 24/7- they have little to no sense of humor. They're the ones who confront me at Holiday parties wanting debate politics when I just want to drink egg nog. They're the ones who- if you make a joke about how your kids are driving you nuts- they just look at you with concern. They're the ones who- if you ask about how their kids are doing at college- they give you all the highlights of their academic record and class schedule but don't mention if they've gone to the football games or if they've joined a sorority.

I have many mottos I try to live by. The main one? Life is short, have fun. Surround yourself with your friends and your family- the people who have always been there for you and who love you the way you are. Don't try to change peoples' minds who are always going to disagree with you- it's a ton of energy spent for nada. Do your best to make a difference and fight for what you believe in- but at the end of the day understand that you're not in charge- He is.

We Republicans may be a little crabby right now because our Grand Old Party is missing a little of it's kick- but we'll get it back. We're frustrated that we can't seem to get our message out and we're annoyed by politicians who shy away from our conservative values and won't call out Democrats for their failures. We're completely frustrated with the mainstream media and the complete blindness and bias in this election- but we also know deep down inside that everything is going to Okay. As my brother said once- "and even if it's not okay, it's going to be"

So- even if you-know-who gets into the White House- I have a prediction to make: Republicans will be happier than Democrats forty years from now too.

And gee- I love Judy:

How DARE she wear Michael Kors!!!

Picture from Rush Limbaugh- read his take on the criticism of Palin's shopping trip.

So the RNC spent $150,000 on clothing for Sarah Palin and her family of 7 for her campaign. All I can say is "bravo" to whomever did the shopping at the tiny Minneapolis location of Nieman Marcus. It's a feat to find that much in that itty-bitty store. Hats off to you.

To run for Vice President of the U.S.-- you had better look sharp, command attention and exude power. Polished designer clothing delivers that- sorry it's a fact. Liberals are upset about this though- how can she understand the average American in an expensive suit? I don't know- how does Obama understand the average American in a $1.2 Million house and a 2007 income of $4.2 Million?

CREW has filed a complaint- but read it and see what they're REALLY mad about. It's not that they spent the money- it's what they spent the money on...something they consider frivolous. Just like liberals-- how dare you spend money on something that we don't think is worthy! Their claim is that even if Palin gives her clothing to charity- her family does not qualify for that same exception. As I read the law- if it's a need specifically related to the campaign (ie would you need these clothes if you weren't running for the Vice President of the United States? which would be "no"- then the donation can be converted to personal use. This on top of donating the clothing to charity means there's no wrong-doing.

Hilary Clinton's custom pantsuits run $6,350 a pop- not including shoes and accessories. Her designer mentions that she was suprised that Palin had to pay for clothing at all, that usually these are given to the candidate because of the exposure-- now that WOULD be a direct violation of Federal Campaign Finance Law assuming she didn't report the gifts.

Pelosi dons the top designers 24/7- her outfits run $3,500+ EASY. But when you have a $20 Million net-worth- who cares? These people can afford the outfits- they just don't think that Sarah Palin deserves to be dressed like them. When these women (and Michelle Obama) dress well it's fawn-worthy. When Palin dresses well it requires an investigation.

The first thing I said to my sister watching Palin and her family at the GOP Convention was- somebody must have taken them shopping. I figured it was a whirlwind trip to get the entire clan outfitted. You could see that all the girls had well-coordinated outfits with shiny new shoes. And Todd looked sharp in the suit and red tie.

Had they showed up in clothing from Kohl's- they'd be ridiculed for looking like she's an Alaska politician. Hey- the family's already been mercilessly ridiculed by the mainstream media.

I doubt they want to "go there" when it comes to "investigating" if rules were broken regarding gifting. Everything was properly filed with the FEC- there's no wrongdoing. Michelle Obama is featured monthly in the top women's fashion magazines donning some new designer outfit of accessory. They always give credit to the designers which is exactly how Hollywood starlets are dressed for free. Do you think she's paying retail for all of this? Thousand dollar sheaths galore from her "favorite hometown designer".

She's smart and throws in the occasional outfit from the mall to look like we common folk. But after 2 years of campaigning-would someone like to report the tab on the Obamas' wardrobes and ensure that any gifting was properly documented?

No, no, no, of COURSE not silly me.

All that the New York Time's Fashion section does is talk about how chic Pelosi is and what an fashion icon Michelle Obama is (because she wears a sheath dress with pearls all of the time? Honey, that's fashion elementary school). It's only Republicans who are corrupt for daring to dress chic themselves.
The bias is getting SO tedious.

Liberal Buds

Liberal Buddies: Ashwin Madia and Nancy Pelosi

A friend sent this email today:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's home House District includes San Francisco.

Star-Kist Tuna's headquarters are in San Francisco, Pelosi's home district.

Star-Kist is owned by Del Monte Foods and is a major contributor to Pelosi.

Star-Kist is the major employer in American Samoa employing 75% of the Samoan workforce.

Paul Pelosi, Nancy's husband, owns $17 million dollars of Star-Kist stock. (Probably a bit less now, after the economic debacle brought on by the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac crash)

In January, 2007 when the minimum wage was increased from $5.15 to $7.25, Pelosi had American Samoa exempted from the increase so Del Monte would not have to pay the higher wage. This would make Del Monte products less expensive than their competition's.

Last week when the huge bailout bill was passed, Pelosi added an earmark to the final bill adding $33 million dollars for an "economic development credit in American Samoa".

And Pelosi has the gall to call the Bush Administration "corrupt".

I had seen this email earlier in the year and checked it out-but I didn't know about this new Pelosi trick to pad her pockets. (You want to talk about money on clothes? Ms. Pelosi is donning Donna Karen and Calvin Klein 24/7- not to mention the dough she drops on her horrible plastic surgery.) But does the media investigage this corruption? Hell no, it's investigating the money Palin spent on her campaign wardrobe at the pintsize Minneapolis Neiman Marcus.

So I did some checking of my own- Sure enough- check out this San Francisco Chronicle article which documents the $33 Million Earmark- of cours the Speaker of the Houses's hometown paper doesn't link HER link her to the money. And here's the Snopes report too.

This $33 Million is on top of the $1.5 Million Pelosi earmarked for the Presidio Heritage Center.

No wonder Pelosi's Congress has a 9% approval rating- and Mr. Madia is doing everything he can to join Nancy and her gang of tax and spend liberals.

Why Lie About THIS?

I just returned from the final 3rd Congressional District Debate at Edina High School. I wasn't even planning on going- I've been over-worked on the "activist" front lately organizing volunteers for GOP efforts in the final weeks. I just made dinner and did the dishes and I was tired and crabby. I'm with twin 4-year-olds most of the day, and by 8pm at night I have absolutely no patience for anybody. By the end of the night I had even less patience for one Congressional Candidate in the 3rd District of Minnesota- can you guess which one?

For most of the debate I was bored- I've basically heard all of this's like the Charlie Brown teachers talking to you-- "Wah, wah, wah, wah, wah, waaaaah."

The candidates were all very cordial to each other- a departure from the last two debates where there were plenty of confrontations and Ashwin Madia told Erik Paulsen to "knock it off"-- How dignified!

I can't say there was any real news on where candidates stand on the issues- with the exception of Madia defending his strong support of The Employee Free Choice Act by saying that it is totally false that it takes away a secret ballot in the workplace for a unionization vote. Madia said "they're not taking away the secret ballot". That's wrong- completely wrong. The Bill- which has passed the House- takes away the option of having a secret ballot if enough Union workers sign-off initially via a union card-check. So yeah- you can have a secret ballot assuming there aren't already enough Union guys in your workplace who decide you don't need one. Dillion repeated his brilliant criticism of Madia on this point by saying "I don't get what it is in your life experience of becoming a Marine or going to law school that says- yeah, we really need card check in the workplace". Dillion's right- it's Union money that buys that vote and Madia is all about Union money- take a look at his endorsements.

Madia also showed STRONG support for the bailout package saying that when bank stocks go up, the taxpayers will see their money back. Uh-huh, I'll be waiting by my mailbox.

I submitted a question (the most excellent question of a loyal reader of this blog)- "Give an example of a time when you took action to be fiscally conservative". Dillion and Paulsen would have been easily able to provide answers- Dillion runs a business and Paulsen has cut government spending at the state level time and again. Madia- who claims to be fiscally conservative would not be able to provide an example- unless perhaps it was buying an inexpensive apartment in the district last fall when he heard Ramstad was retiring. I suppose that would be fiscally conservative.

Someone asked a question about when the candidates moved to the district and why did they choose to live here. (I was amazed they asked it). Madia said (paraphrasing) "I was born in Boston, we lived all over the country, my parents moved to Plymouth when I was in high school, went to the U then to law school, then I joined the Marines, lived in Japan, was in Iraq and left in July 2006 and moved back home".

This doesn't square at all with what the Sun newspapers have printed- that he's been in the 3rd District for 13 years. What's up with that?

I was frustrated that the moderator didn't ask him to answer the question. Where's Mary Lahammer when you need her?

I approached Madia after the debate- I said "you didn't answer the question- how long have you lived in the district"- Madia gave me a smile and said something like "yeah, I did answer it"-- I said "no you didn't and it's a really simple question- your Policy Director has indicated you moved here a year ago, you went to high school for 1 or 2 years here- so is it 3 years that you've lived in the district?" Madia refused to answer me--I asked "Why do the Sun newspapers report that you've been in the district for 13 years? A staff member of yours said it's because your mail has been delivered here for 13 years, so is that how long you've lived here?". He gave me a little patronizing smile and nod and told me to set up a meeting with him sometime then had his Policy Director talk to me.

Mr. Madia needs to set up a meeting with me to answer an EXTREMELY SIMPLE question- how long have you lived in the district? Really? Is this the type of person you want representing you?

His condescening Policy Director- said the question was answered, but I needed to do a better job of listening.

I can't say how much this annoys me. Madia has a great story to tell (and he's told it about 12,000 time by now)- why not add in- "When Ramstad's seat opened up, I decided to move back home to Plymouth where I felt I could represent the people of the 3rd District"-- WHY NOT?

I've had others tell me this is a moot point, it doesn't matter. When politicians routinely lie about very basic questions, isn't that an indication that they may be less-than-truthful about bigger issues once they're elected? I think so.

And it MATTERS. It matters because most people are working hard to pay their bills, they're with their families after a hard day at work- they don't have the time to go to a debate. But- they read their local papers- especially this close to the election. They trust the candidate profiles to contain FACTUAL information from which to base their decision to vote and Madia's profile does not. He proved that tonight by talking about how he's spent his last 13 years- and it hasn't been in the 3rd Congressional District of Minnesota.

As I've said before- I think that Madia has a problem with telling the truth- whether it's his employment status and distributing literature saying he's "currently" an attorney when he has been unemployed for a year, or whether it's his residency. He even mentioned tonight at the debate that he was a Marine for 4 years- when his ads say 2003-2006. Now, I'm getting nit-picky- but it just points to somebody who feels they need to stretch the truth in order to get votes. He doesn't- he's a smart guy, a good candidate for Democrats. But regardless of how smart you are- if you can't tell the truth, you shouldn't be asking to represent us in Congress- there are enough crafty attorneys in Washington go around.

She wants to help him put together a 30 minute nationally televised advertisement to air Oct 29th.
My husband informs me that if it airs and the World Series goes to a 6th game, it will delay the start of the game. But dear Todd- he's "The One".....what does American's game mean anyway?

According to U.S. News and World Report today regarding the May 2007 endorsement of Obama by Oprah- A Pew poll found that 74 percent of Americans had heard about it and that a quarter of Americans had heard more about Obama than any other candidate in the weeks that followed. "She really helped boost Obama's visibility," says Carroll Doherty, associate director of the Pew Research Center. "This was at a time when Hillary Clinton was the dominant figure in the race."

So not only does she endorse him, now she wants to produce him. Can you see it now- Obama's "Favorite Things" and the "10 Things He knows for Sure"...

Hmm, let me see if I can play...Obama:

1. I know that if you write two autobiographies, you can tell the world that you've used drugs and nobody's going to ask you about it.

2. I know that you can call someone your "mentor" one minute and disown him the next for political expediency.

3. I know that typical white people are all racists and if you don't vote for me, you're a racist too.

4. I know that people want to protect the 2nd Amendment and practice a religion because they're bitter

5. I know that the government knows better than you do how to spend your money and that rich people suck

6. I know that health care is a right regardless of what our Constitution says.

7. I know that public schools are the best- even though my daughters won't go to them.

8. I know that Iran doesn't pose a serious threat to us, but global warming does.

9. I know that I'm going to have really, really, really smart people around me if I become President which means I will have the most smart administration in the history of the Presidency.

Can Somebody Get Me on MSMBC with Matthews?

I caught this interview with Tom Ridge last night. Matthews continues his "gotcha" style journalism, trying to get another Republican to say something newsworthy on his show. This time it's: "Is Obama a Socialist?" Ridge tries to be polite and handle the question like a gentleman and Matthews keeps trying to just have him say it. Ridge says- "he's moving us in that direction". True.

But he missed the correct answer- "I fully believe that Obama wants to move us away from a Capitalist system to a Social Democracy whereby government makes vigorous efforts to erase class divisions by placing significantly higher taxes on a small percentage of people- Yes, I do. When 40% of the country doesn't have a federal tax liability, but you're promising them a tax cut and you state clearly that the wealth should be spread around- that at least indicates a strong sympathy towards a Socialist system. I worry about that greatly, because the Founders wanted a Republic- not a pure Democracy for this very reason. We must assure and protect individual freedom-and being over-taxed by the government IS an infringement on freedom as there is no recourse for the individual. Obama's rhetoric indicates to me that he'll be satisfied when the majority of voters pay no income taxes- and how does that resemble the America that was intended for us?"

I had to laugh after the interview- because MN Senator Amy Klobuchar (who is NOT following my fashion tips), followed Ridge and the questions were so "Softball" compared to the interview with Ridge that even Matthews admitted it on air.

Just as the Democrats refused to debate on Fox News, Republicans should not interview on MSNBC.

Military Supports McCain 3-1

From Fox News:

Interesting to see the racial divide- among African American troops- support goes to Obama
8-1. I guess that's better than thh 95% of African Americans who support Obama in the "populace" polls.

Good thing we kept the Credit Markets Open

According to an Oct 17th article in The Politico,

"The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, seeing an irresistible opportunity to make big gains on Election Day, has secured a $15 million loan from Bank of America that it will use to splurge on tight races during the last three weeks of the campaign season.

The $15 million loan is nearly twice the $8 million that the National Republican Congressional Committee was able to borrow recently and adds to the huge financial advantage that Democrats already hold over the GOP. When combined with the cash-on-hand advantage that the DCCC has over the National Republican Congressional Committee — $54 million to $14.4 million as of Aug. 31 — the loan leaves House Democratic leaders with $47 million more than their GOP counterparts to pour into contested districts.

So much for the stereotype of wealthy Republicans. They're BORROWING money when they already clearly have much more than the GOP? Why? Because they know that money for ad time and more staff is what they need to win-- because people still have to be sold on their message.

Take a look at this article and graphs from the Wall Street Journal today.

Obama has nearly double the money that McCain has- over $620 Million to McCain's $330 million. For a reference, Bush and Kerry raised $375 million and $350 million respectively in '04. The Obama machine is monstrous.

When you have Billy Joel, Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen headlining fundrasing events for you (not to mention the power of Oprah Winfrey) we really don't stand a chance to raise that type of cash.

Shame on U

From The Associated Press yesterday:

Associated Press
DULUTH -- The University of Minnesota Board of Regents has unanimously approved a proposal to increase tuition 9 percent for most students by 2011.
It would also increase faculty and staff pay 6 percent over the same period.
But the Legislature still has to approve it and System President Robert Bruininks acknowledged the request may be a tough sell. That's due to the troubled economy and a state budget deficit projected to be at least $2 billion.
But he says the 2010-2011 budget request is necessary to keep the university attracting top-notch faculty and research grants critical to the state's economy.
The budget request asks the Legislature to add $141 million to the nearly $1.5 billion it currently gives to the university for two years.

Current Tuition for the U is $10,806 for MN Residents- Room and Board is $7,280- With a 9% increase- you're at almost $12,000 a year in tuition only-- $20,000 to go to the U for one year- $80,000 for a 4-year undergraduate degree. And the University calls this a great value?? I would have never been able to afford the U with these outrageous prices.

These numbers don't add up with inflation at all! Back when I was in school-1991-1995, I paid approximately $1,000 per quarter for tuition- $3,000 a year...I paid roughly the same for Room and Board- living in a Sorority. I paid for half of my education with student loans and worked for the rest.

When I use a couple different online inflation calculators- I come up with $4,800 a year for what 2008 tuition should be if it were rising at the rate of inflation since 1991.

Of course- now they're offering "Free Tuition" for select MN residents through their Founders Free Tuition Program. (A package of government paid grants). And they also have a $150 Million President's Scholarship Fund. Hey guys- you wouldn't need to offer grants and scholarships if the college were reasonably affordable.

So what's going on?

There's been a push at the U under President Bob Bruinink's leadership for the U to "rank among the top three public research universities in the world". That's wonderful.

But with this qwest for greatness, they're short-changing Minnesota taxpayers. I've heard several antecdotes that A students from Eden Prairie High School aren't able to get into the U and that's wrong...completely wrong. It's a public institution and A and B student residents should have no problem getting in.

In a MN Daily article from last week- Bruininks said "The highest priority in this budget is to protect the jobs of the talented faculty and staff who work at the University, because without them the University can’t be an outstanding contributor to Minnesota’s economy and quality of life. So the highest priority is to retain the jobs of people who work here and also to compensate the people at some, at a fair level for the high quality of their work, so that the biggest part of this budget request, roughly 70 to 75 percent is to compensate faculty and staff."

Students have ALWAYS been secondary at the University and Bruininks- a 30 year staff member- is not the leader to change this.

But it's not just the U who's boasting outrageous tuition these days- good private schools cost $30,000+ a year in tuition. I have a theory that with the easy availability of credit- that the schools are just counting on students to pay the bills with financial aid and they must be doing just that for the schools to demand and get what they're asking for.

My parents made $18,000 a year when I applied the University- as I recall, I qualified for about $3,000 in Stafford Loans (max). I took out that amount and had $12,000 debt when I graduated. Now students are probably sitting $40,000+ in debt just for a public-school degree.

I also think the Unions still rule the roost at many Universities and the salary and benefit spending is out of control. And then there's the simple fact that education spending is always the "sacred cow" that no legislator wants to touch. The U of M's biennial budget has gone from roughly $900 million in 1995 to $1.5 Billion today-- again completely out of line with inflation.

So- when everyone is screaming about what a tragedy it would be for credit to dry up in this country- I'm thinking it doesn't sound like such a bad thing after all if it means driving down unaffordable tuition. Of course, the bailout ship has already sailed and rather than force administrations to answer the tough questions about tuition pricing- a liberal majority will simply "solve the problem" by putting more money into the financial aid program budgets. Young Americans will go so far into debt to attain a degree- it will take them decades to pay off their loans and government spending will continue to go through the roof.

Notice: When liberals talk about help with college tuition- they're not talking about addressing the rising costs and instituting cost containment measures (like they talk about with health care)- they are simply talking about dumping more tax money into the system...period.

Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies......

\ˈpā-trē-ə-ˌti-zəm, chiefly British ˈpa-\
circa 1726
: love for or devotion to one's country

I love Michelle Bachmann (Minnesota's 6th Congressional District Rep)-listen to Chris Matthews- he just can't get it through his big fat head: Yes, there are a lot of people out there who think that Obama harbors anti-American views. Gasp, Shocker!!!

I agree with the assessments Bachmann makes of the chosen friends and mentors of Barack Obama- Rev Wright "God Damn America" and Bill Ayers: America "it makes me want to puke".

Not to mention things his wife has said and written including the gem "Because sometimes it's easier to hold on to your own stereotypes and misconceptions, it makes you feel justified in your ignorance… That's America!"

Note: I don't put Michelle Obama in the same category as the other two- but when you add up one + one- i.e. attending Trinity Church in Chicago for 20 years and having Rev Wright as a close, personal friend of the family-- it adds up to AT LEAST mild anti-American views.

But it's also Obama himself who - I believe- shares views that our country is not the most wonderful, amazing country on earth.

Obama- Berlin, Summer 2008

People of Berlin - people of the world - this is our moment. This is our time.

I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.

A Senator- running for President- goes to Berlin to apologize on our behalf for not "perfecting" itself. That doesn't have at least a tinge of Anti-Americanism to it? Freedom of Speech is guaranteed by our Constitution- but we have a right to question what is said.

We're about to put the most liberal Senator (also former Academic, two-time biography writer and community organizer) in the White House- and with that comes the reality of the "Apologize-to-everyone-for-how-bad-American is World Tour". But this time- it won't be from a Senator- it would be from our President. Woodrow Wilson II.

Peace through Strength- but if you don't wholeheartedly believe this is the greatest nation in the history of nations, how can you deliver that strength?

I googled Obama+ "America is the best"-- I couldn't come up with a time when he's said that- he must have said it sometime over the last 2 years- right? Post a link if you can find it.

But I these little facts in a statement about a 10/6/08 Rasmussen Poll:

While 91% of Republicans say the United States is the world’s best nation, just 60% of Democrats feel that way.

Twenty-one percent (21%) of Democratic voters say America is not the best, and nearly as many (20%) are undecided. Sixty-eight percent (68%) of unaffiliated voters feel America is the best, while 14% disagree.

Only 56% of likely Obama voters believe the United States is the best nation in the world, compared to 92% of likely McCain voters.

To liberal Democrats (the 40% above) like Biden and Obama- patriotism means paying more taxes if you're successful- it doesn't mean thinking that your country is the best place in the world. It doesn't mean loving our traditions, our culture or heritage. To them we are a country that was only worth fighting for when Pearl Harbor was attacked. 9/11 was one man in one cave and once we get him and then give more money to the poor people that follow him, we will be worth loving again.

There are so many countries where one could live if they wanted Socialism, places where systems have been in place for decades. The possibilities are endless. But, there's only one America and if it fundamentally changes, where do the people who like Capitalism go? Well- I know where most liberals want us to go....I'll try not to get too far ahead of myself- one day at a time, right? We are a center-right country and even if this election goes badly for Republicans, there's a reason for it and we'll get through.

But I still think that Reagan is shedding a tear somewhere and our Founding Fathers are just shaking their heads.

The Continued Lies from the Madia Campaign

The Eden Prairie Sun Current arrived in my mailbox yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I saw the candidate profiles for the 3rd Congressional District Race:

Madia's year in the District 13 years? That is an outrageous lie. He hasn't even lived here for 13 months!

I wanted to give the Madia campaign the benefit of the doubt-so I called their office this afternoon. When I asked the woman who answered the phone if what was printed in the Sun Current was true- has Madia lived in the 3rd Congressional District for 13 years? She didn't miss a beat- she said "YES" I said- "that's not true, he was in college at the U, then NYU, then the Marines, then lived in Mpls- he moved here last year"-- She replied- "his mailing address has been here for 13 years". She also added that "he's voted here for that time".

So his mail has been in the district for 13 years and that means that he has too? Madia's 30-years-old, so they're counting back to when he was 17 and moved to Osseo (which means that Madia lived in the 3rd CD for 1 year in High School). During the call, it was obvious that they've had the question before and that the paid staff member was quickly prepared for the "mail" answer.

I asked if I should maybe talk to the Communications Director and give them a chance to fix this- because I had a blog and was putting this info up- I also asked if she was paid staff or a volunteer- she said "I'm staff, but I'm not on the Communications Team"-- she took my name and number and said somebody would call me. Uh-huh.

Are you kidding me?

My husband still gets some mail at his parents home- the man is 38 years old and lived in Sioux Falls for about 6 months total. So- are you telling me that if he were to move back to Sioux Falls today- and run for office, would it be truthful- IN ANY WAY- to say that he's lived there for 20 years?

When I attended the 3rd CD Debate at the Bet Shalom temple last month- I asked the Madia Policy Director, Rishi Bhandari, for the month and date that Madia moved to his Plymouth apartment from his Minneapolis apartment...although he wouldn't give me an answer- when I offered October 2007- he said "that sounds right".

Karla Wennerstrom, Editor of The EP News reported on Sept 9th on their blog:

I talked with Madia's policy director Rishi Bhandari today. He confirms that Madia lived in the district as a teenager, graduated from Osseo, went to the University of Minnesota where he received his undergraduate degree, received a law degree from NYU, was in Japan and Iraq in the military between 2002 and 2006 and moved back to Minnesota after that.Bhandari said he moved to his apartment in Plymouth in October, 2007.He also said Madia stopped practicing law when he left Robins, Kaplan, Miller and Ciresi.Bhandari said he's not employed. He's campaigning full-time for Congress.

Okay- SO WHY IS THE MADIA CAMPAIGN CONTINUING TO LIE AND MISLEAD VOTERS and say he's lived in the district for 13 years? And this goes beyond just saying it- It's in print and he has staff members repeating the lie. Just like his misleading campaign literature printed the lies about his employment status. He's ahead in the polls, why is he lying about this?

He's been lying about his residency for months now. He lied on his campaign literature saying he was "currently an attorney" when he's been unemployed for a year. He lied about voting for George Bush- saying he didn't when he did. How can you want to elect someone who is incapable of being honest on the basics?

It's almost like he can't help himself- at the end of last week's TPT debate when Mary Lahammer mentioned that he's getting beat up more because he's ahead in polls, Madia responded with an "I don't pay much attention to those things". PLEASE! He's asking us to believe that a first-time candidate in the biggest race of his life doesn't pay attention to polls?

He lied again in that debate when he said "we're not getting rid of the secret ballot, it's a 30% issue"-- HE SIGNED A PLEDGE with the AFL-CIO in February to get rid of the secret ballot. He lied in the first debate when he said we can "fight and win this war on terror" when he's previously ONLY talked about withdrawal from Iraq. So he lies about the issues too.

Like I said- it's like he almost can't help himself when it comes to lying. How many other community newspapers in the 3rd CD did the candidate lie to when he said he's been in the district for 13 years and when is the Madia campaign going to fix this egregious error?

Conspiracy Theory

I took the girls to "Beverly Hills Chihauhau" for a matinee today- adorable movie! I love Mexico so I enjoyed the scenery (they even showed the exact spot where Todd proposed in Puerta Vallerta). Good actors too- not just the dogs.

Todd wanted to go see "American Carol" tonight and I was going to buy him tickets while I was there. I saw that "W" was playing, but not "American Carol". I asked the ticket girl if it had ever shown at the theatre in Eden Prairie- she said "I don't think so"....figures.

"W" has been advertised everywhere and most notably airing during Rush Limbaugh's radio show and "Fox News" commercial breaks. Can we EVER get any peace? It figures-according to Dirty Harry's Blog (A conservative look at film, punk-- LOVE IT), "W" is opening in 2,100+ theatres this weekend. The movie cost $30 Million to make and has a $25 Million marketing campaign. Any coincidence AT ALL that it's pummeling voters right before an election? Dirty Hairy observes: "When we see ads again and again referring to the liberation of 25 million Iraqis as a “Trillion Dollar Mistake” that’s a 527 not a movie promo."

You bet it is. Let's forget the complete distaste of lampooning our President and leader of the free world while he's still in office and let's forget that -with the exception of Wall Street- I've never been able to stay awake during an Oliver Stone movie-- why is this movie showing in EP and it's conservative counterpoint "An American Carol" isn't? American Carol is showing in Lakeville and Maple Grove- W is in almost every theatre in the metro area.

Clearly from the trailers W looks like a spoof, a farce- but not according to Stone. In this article in London's Daily Telegraph he talks about how seriously he tries to portray our President. Fast forward 4 years- Obama is President (wait...let that shiver down my spine subside)- an outrageous farse is produced about "The One". Wouldn't happen- not in a million years. How much you wanna bet "W" is up for some Oscar action? This is why I stick to Chihauhau movies these days.

McCain at Al E. Smith

I caught Obama last night at the Al E. Smith dinner- he was funny and charming. But I missed McCain- Mary told me it was hilarious. It was!

I have to find out who wrote this for McCain.

John Edwards has Nothing on this Guy

I heard about the first affair of Congressman Tom Mahoney (D) FL- he's accused of getting his mistress a federal job as hush money to keep the affair quite. But I didn't know about the second affair with another woman- a government official in his Congressional District- he directed $3.4 million in federal emergency funds to that babe. Here's a piece from CBS news online- I haven't seen this hit the airwaves? Can you believe this is the man who replaced Mark Foley only 2 short years ago- promising to restore "family values"? How many times did we hear about Foley texting Congressional pages in the final few weeks of that election? It was the nightly news lead story for weeks.

Hmm, just got called with a four question poll for President paid for by the DNC. Calling out of an office in MN.

I hear there's been some push-polling for Ashwin Madia (a friend told me he was called a few weeks ago and they pushed Madia's military service as an issue)....if anybody else gets these calls let me know.

Speaking of Madia's military service- here's what fellow Marine- Congressman John Kline (R) 2nd CD- had to say about a new Madia ad: (This is all from a story yesterday at Minnesota Democrats Exposed)

As a retired member of the United States Marine Corps, I am outraged that Ashwin Madia would exploit uniformed Marines to advance his political ambitions. By displaying footage of the elite U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Team in his campaign ads, Madia implies an endorsement of his candidacy that is inaccurate and inappropriate. He should immediately pull down the ad and issue an apology to the drill team and the brave men and women of the U.S. Marine Corps.” - Congressman John Kline

Now check this out- here's the ad:

And here's the footage he used: (as Michael Brodkorb Reports is stock footage found online)

Todd Palin

Photo from Minnesota Independent Blog who followed Palin's trip through MN.

The very cute Todd Palin will be on a tour of Northern Minnesota today- I just received his schedule from the State Party:

Thursday, October 16

2:00pm, Gander Mountain, Hermantown 4275 Haines Rd Hermantown, MN
4:30pm, Timberlake Lodge Inn 144 SE 17th St Grand Rapids, MN
6:30pm, Bemidji Woolen Mills 888 Industrial Park Dr Bemidji, MN

Friday, October 17

9:30am, Arctic Cat Factory 601 Brooks Ave S Thief River Falls, MN (Palin drives an Artic Cat)
2:00pm, Scheel's Sporting Goods 505 Center Ave Moorhead, MN

I used to work on Center Avenue in Moorhead, about 2 blocks from the Scheels. This was a very glamorous part of my life- right after college- when I worked for Xerox as a sales rep in North Dakota and Northern Minnesota. I travelled from Fargo to Grand Forks up through Drayton and into Minnesota. Through Thief River Falls up to Roseau and Warroad. (Roseau was home to the other big snowmobile manufacturer- Polairs and Warroad is the HQ of Marvin Windows). I literally drove through blizzards to sign deals with my customers and remember getting snowed into towns a few times and having to stay overnight.

I worked with a great group of guys, Jim Connolly and Bob Klein, two fellow Republican salesmen and then all the sweet technicians who I ate lunch with....most of them had been with the company for 20+ years. I learned a lot on that job. When I bought my first car and was looking at Nissans and Mazdas, Bob told me that I had better buy American if I was going to be selling in N.D. I did- a Ford.

North Dakota is a state that elects Republican governors and Republican Presidents, but Democrat Senators and Representatives. The 7th Congressional District of Minnesota (Almost the entire western half of Minnesota from North to South) has a long-time Democrat Congressman- Colin Peterson, but Bush won handily there in both 2000 and 2004. Smart move to send Palin in. I look forward to watching the news coverage in the cities- if there is any.

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Well I missed most of the debate- was at a political meeting- but I DVR'd I'm watching all of the pundits which sort of colors your view so not sure if I'll even get up a post on it.

Did anyone else watch FOX NEWS and see Tim Pawlenty staring away from the camera the entire interview? He looked like Mary Ingalls- it was really weird.

Todd had one comment after seeing all of the "undecided" voters in Frank Lunz's focus group: "Everybody thinks they're middle class"....Mary noted this the other day- "When did it become so chic to become middle class?"

What IS middle class these days anyway?

GOP Blogs and New Rules for this Blog

I was asked to be a contributor to True North a couple months ago- I get lazy about copying and pasting my posts over and need to do more- it's a great group of Minnesota Conservative bloggers. Check it out if you're all about politics in the Gopher state.

Now I've been asked to contribute to an AWESOME new website for GOP Women- ThePrepublican I highly encourage my girlfriends who read this blog to join- Liz, you will absolutely love it! Check out the profile pictures :) It's "girlfriend chat" for Republican women.

Another girlfriend (who shall remain anonymous) started a blog - Right Wing Chicks - about a month ago and already has a radio interview lined up in Britain! Way to go!

Including this blog- that's three new GOP women's blogs inspired by my sister's blog Blurbs from the Burbs. Mary's been blogging for a couple of years now. It says something that we all want an "outlet" and a way to get our views heard-- you sure don't hear them in the Women's Media. Each of us has a circle of friends reading our blogs and we wish to extend that circle, so I list them in my blog roll.

And a note on this blog- because of the likes of local DFL member and mnblue blogger Tommy Johnson, who couldn't honor a simple request not to post here- I now have to moderate comments. If you weren't able to post today- I apologize- I was trying to figure out how to do settings and made a mistake. You can post now, I just have to approve the comments.

Tommy has said that his job is to "make me think" and that I don't seem to "intellectually challenge myself". I'll do Tommy a little favor and link his blog here to show you what a genius he is. Isn't the man Buckley-esque in his intellect and wit- isn't he? "George orWell Bush, Bushy McSame, republiCons"...uh-huh.

He sees his job as shouting down Republicans and Tommy wins- making me work harder than I need to-to manage this blog. (Just like liberals make us work harder than we need to- to keep our own money.)

Two reasons why we're a Republic and not a Democracy:

More Organized Voter Fraud

I'll try to post on the debate tonight- otherwise busy day with kids and other responsibilities....

But read Michelle Malkin's post today about a house full of Rhodes, Marshall, Fulbright and Truman scholars who have all voted absentee in Ohio- the problem is they don't live there.

Out and About

Quote John Boehner-

John Boehner (Rep- Ohio) came out last week and said this: Contracting for services between candidates for federal office and ACORN, as Sen. Obama has done, must end," says Boehner. "Now that the taxpayers own Fannie Mae, any funding from Fannie Mae’s nonprofit foundation to ACORN must stop."

Meet John Boehner-

Anger Management

There's been an interesting phenomena happening lately. I've had many Republican friends forwarding me emails they're receiving from liberal friends and family members. They have a candidate who's ahead in the polls- there's really no reason for them to worry, but they're taking time to "seek out and destroy" conservative friends. I have two friends whose fathers have sent them really awful emails and as I commented earlier my own grandmother likes to call us dirty Republicans (her dirty Republican daughter helped her get her vote cast for Obama the other day).

These recent emails are the most vicious attacks on conservatives. I don't get it. Why now? They're winning. Shouldn't you be happy when you're winning? Why do they care what we think? And why do they think we care what they think? Do they think they're going to change our minds? Do they think that by repeating a dozen times how much they hate George Bush that we're going to magically dump our entire set of political beliefs?

This is going on all over the place. My mom can't say anything in her book club without getting clobbered by liberals- same with my mother-in-law in her quilting group. Even though there are other women in the group who agree with them- they are silenced by the ones who don't want to hear one word about what they think because they're Republicans.

I've tried to be polite at neighborhood parties to Obama supporters saying- yes, he seems very smart, yes he's very likable. What do you ever get back in return? George Bush sucks, he's ruined the country, blah, blah, blah. You give an ounce of respect, you get nothing in return. So- I've stopped trying to placate people. I'm tired of it.

My good friend- lets just call her Doris- made the grave mistake of sending out a web video listing all of the facts about Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to a group of friends- old and new. Someone on the list hit a "reply all" and sent out an email calling John McCain a "vile human being" and blasting George Bush This woman said that McCain has "no idea what it's like"- demonstrating that she wants a government who can feel her pain and who knows best. She bragged that Obama was ahead by double digits- great- then WHY was she so angry feeling the need to lash out at a group of Republicans? Could they be worried that they could still blow this thing? It shouldn't be possible, but maybe it is.

This blog is my little outlet- to say what I want to say and put my thoughts out there. I combine some facts and some occasional "investigative reporting" to get out stories that our local papers won't report. Hopefully, I provide a perspective that is rarely heard from in the media- that of a relatively young, conservative, married woman and mom. There's a lot of us- although you'd never know it from watching "The View" or reading any women's magazines. I would always get asked questions from friends about this or that political topic. Friends forward me stuff and want to know what I think- so rather than email everybody, I started this blog.

I posted on Gavin Sullivan's blog a few months back- the only time I've ever posted on a liberal blog. He was asking a direct question of how Catholics could support Erik Paulsen and I answered him since I'm Catholic and support Erik Paulsen- I also questioned his use of the word "papist". I didn't expect Gavin to change his mind, I tried to answer his question and that was that.

Now I have Democrats posting here and I ask "why?" and I get an answer "to make you think".

Because in their minds- I don't. In their minds, Republicans have no right to their own world views based on their own set of experiences. We haven't given any thought to why we believe in the things we do. We're as good as the people on The Tonight Show Jay-walking segments who can't name a Supreme Court Justice or identify Joe Biden's picture. Their emotion overrides their reason- as usual- and they only know that Republicans are bad people and they think that their job is to beat them into submission.

Well I'm not interested in hearing from people who don't think that I think. It's insulting and ridiculous. If I "don't think" then why on earth would you care what I have to say? If I'm a mind-numbed idiot why waste your time on this blog? Life is way too short. It really is.

And I don't need an "education", thank you very much.

People have told me to welcome all of the angry posts- that's what people want to do is fight and that's what drives traffic. I didn't start a blog to drive traffic- so I really don't care.

I may move to approving comments so I can keep this blog open- but right now I think I'll employ a tactic of the mainstream media and just censor people. I'll be deleting posts that fall under the boring and obnoxious category- I started with one for Tommy Johnson who has his own blog, his own outlet and who doesn't think that I "think" but thinks that I'll put up with his B.S. Copying and pasting a post from your blog on my blog? Please.

P.S. Speaking of angry liberals-- check out this video of people with McCain signs walking through the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Nice.

Communism 101

You've probably already seen the video of Obama telling a plumber that we need to "Spread the wealth around...."

"I want to make sure everybody behind you has a chance at success"

What a ridiculous statement- everyone in this country DOES have a chance at success- it's what makes America the wonderful country that it is, but Obama clearly disagrees.

The man went to HARVARD LAW SCHOOL as the son of a single mother- what on earth does he mean that some people don't have a chance???? We have a free public education system, we have financial aid for you to go to college-- and you don't even need to graduate from college to be a success! Look at Bill Gates and Rush Limbaugh.

Obama believes that the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness means taking your money- taking your freedom- and giving it to those who HE deems worthy. Want to keep that money for your family? Too bad. Want to help your family members who may be sick or out of a job? Too bad. Have a favorite charity that you think does good work? Too bad. 40% of your income isn't enough- they want more and they're taking it. And they're raising taxes in a time of recession! But only on "the rich". Uh-huh, right.

This country was FOUNDED to escape unfair and biased taxation- we fought a Revolution because of taxes. Americans are entrepreneurial by nature. We like to work and we like to work hard for the rewards it brings. Obama- the most liberal U.S. Senator- is trying to snuff out the spirit of this country. They want change all right- they want to fundamentally change our country from a nation of equality to one that plays favorites.

Get Out the Vote- ACORN Style

I did a little bit of voter registration volunteering for the GOP when I was in Georgia. Here was the extent of it: set up a table outside of Kroger grocery store with a sign that says "Register to Vote Today"....sit behind the table and answer questions from people who ask and provide the form to those who wanted it. That was that.

ACORN pays it's volunteers to go door-to-door and walk the neighborhoods to get people registered and like a good sales commission plan, they get paid for how many registrations they can complete.

Here's how they enticed once gentleman to register multiple times:

And here's CNN's report on ACORN and voter fraud in case you missed it:

And here's how ACORN ties in with the mortgage mess:

Check out "Obama's ACORN Tree" from the GOP to connect the dots of the $190,000 Obama gave to ACORN as a board member of the Wood's Fund and the $800,000 his campaign has paid to an ACORN subsidiary to "get out the vote". They list more connections too.

Your tax dollars go to this group via grants from government-funded organizations- like Fannie Mae. (Just like your tax dollars go to fund all of the government unions who also DIRECTLY support candidates you may oppose).

John Boehner (Rep- Ohio) came out last week and said this:

Contracting for services between candidates for federal office and ACORN, as Sen. Obama has done, must end," says Boehner. "Now that the taxpayers own Fannie Mae, any funding from Fannie Mae’s nonprofit foundation to ACORN must stop."

Yeah- I'd say so.

Welcome to the Central Planning Committee

I heard Obama mention during last Friday's speech that he wanted to dole out money to State and Local governments to offset budget cuts. That's the last thing we need. Local government is where we can watch our tax dollars the easiest and where taxpayers can rightly scrutinize the budgets. A pain threshold for local taxes is the barrier that helps keep our local governments in check and now Obama wants to throw money at them.

When I first heard him say this- I immediately thought "Pay to the Order Of: The City of Chicago". Obama's ONLY executive experience is doling out grant money to garner political favor and his national plan is no different.

From his website Economic Plan:

Provide $50 billion to Jumpstart the Economy and Prevent 1 Million Americans from Losing Their Jobs: This relief would include a $25 billion State Growth Fund to prevent state and local cuts in health, education, housing, and heating assistance or counterproductive increases in property taxes, tolls or fees. The Obama-Biden relief plan will also include $25 billion in a Jobs and Growth Fund to prevent cutbacks in road and bridge maintenance and fund school repair - all to save more than 1 million jobs in danger of being cut.

Do you think cities who exhibit fudiciary responsibility will see this money?

But forget about the continued vote-buying and forget about the fact that WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY-this is communistic. Using federal tax dollars to redistribute money to the states? I know we already do this with pork-barrel projects and education spending...but this seems to take it to a new level.

Time Magazine Contributer Calls Everyone at McCain Rallys "Wingnuts"

I caught this on MSNBC last night.

My mouth was agape. Listen to Ana Marie Cox, Time Magazine Contributor and part of the press corp covering John McCain.

I didn't know that Todd, my friends, my brother and I are "wingnuts". "The wingnuts are only the ones left who come to these rallys" says Cox.

Now I'm sure none of these people yelled anything inappropriate about Bush when Obama said this:

He said this at stump after stump and the crowd went wild. Stoking the crowd??? He even chimes in "No Bush" about our sitting President. I don't recall McCain joining in when the crowd yelled "Nobama" a the Blaine rally. And I- the WINGNUT- yelled it too. Darn right I did.

Rev. Wright "God Damn America", Bill Ayers "American....It makes me want to puke", Rapper Jay-Z getting the crowd yelling "F*** Bush" with Obama's picture on the big screen, -- but the hate is on our side?

Look at the Daily Kos--Liberals hate George Bush with a white-hot passion. They've called him a murderer, a terrorist, Hitler. But anybody who attends a McCain rally needs to be "controlled".

The mainstream media continues it's campaign for Obama.

Ron Case Campaign Literature at Smith-Douglas-More

I stopped by Dunn Bros this morning. I have to admit, it's not a regular haunt- not on my end of town. A friend told me that I might be interested in campaign literature at the coffee shop.

I picked up a couple cookies for the girls and couldn't believe what I saw.

Here's Ron Case's Campaign Advertisement as well as a couple of Commentary pieces about the Dunn Bros lease taped to the glass near the cash register.

Here's a stack of Ron Case's campaign literature at the cash register:

There's another stack of Case literature on the bulletin board:

I asked to speak to the owner - I told her that this was a City owned building and there's no way that any campaign literature should be displayed. She said that any candidate was welcome to display. I said again- this is a City owned building and she's a lessee and that there's no way that candidate literature should be displayed.

She explained that they have had Norm Coleman and Jenifer Loon (Republicans) speak at the Dunn Bros. I asked if Norm Coleman or Loon campaign literature was being displayed at the cash register? No- but Loon had accidentally left a sign outside when she spoke there and there was a phone call to take it down- which she did.

I let her know it was very bad business to display ANY political literature at a private business. Can you see Starbucks having a stack of Obama lit at the register? She made the argument that a Dunn Bros franchisee at a strip mall may be able to do so- perhaps (it would still be foolish) but, the franchisee at the strip mall isn't sitting in a taxpayer-owned building.

She finally said that Ron Case's son works there and it was his idea to display the literature. I said she was the boss and needed to make the decisions. She also said she felt "used" and had "no idea" what she was getting into with the lease and the political fight. I actually felt bad for her- but not bad enough to tolerate using a taxpayer-owned building as Ron Case's personal campaign headquarters.

She told me all of the literature would be removed.

In the end- I blame Ron Case. What is he thinking? I know what he's thinking- that the Dunn Bros coffeehouse is his personal accomplishment- it's a reflection of him and he deserves to have his lit displayed for all he's done. This isn't the first time when Case has used taxpayer resources to campaign for office, but it's the first time he's been called on it.

I've made jokes about Case and his ego- but using businesspeople stuck in the middle of your political fight is not a joke. Mr. Eden Prairie has stepped over the line.
